How do I change the "default company" in Sage Line 50 - I've seen it
done before, but just can remember how. Should be a simple function.

Hi hkmanji,

Since I don't have the Sage Line 50 program, the instructions I am
posting are found on various websites on the internet. Please try this
and let me know if it works:

When you run Sage Line 50 for the first time the Easy Startup Wizard
asked for your Company details. Alternatively, after selecting Company
Preferences from the settings options, you can enter these details as
follows:

In 'Address' enter the following information:

1. NAME: Enter your company name here.

2. Enter your full address details in the next box.

3. EMAIL & WEBSITE: E-Mail and Web addresses go here.

4. VAT: Enter VAT & Credit Ref No?s. if appropriate.

5. Click OK to finish.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi - this is not what I am looking for. When you install Sage Line 50
- the first company you create is the default company. However, if you
add company 2, 3,4 and you want to remove company 1 - you cannot
because company 1 is the default company.

I have tried (and managed) to reorder the companies, so that the old
company 1 is actually now listed as company 2. I tried to delete
company 2 (old company 1) but it is still showing the error message
"Cannot delete default company".

What I am trying to do is change the default company, and then delete
the old company.

Many thanks. Hassan

I understand now. Unfortunately, I don't think I would be able to help
you unless I had the program in front of me.

Is there any sort of tutorial that comes with the product that could
help with this setting?

Best of luck,
Rainbow

the solution to this is to locate a file called company in the
installation directory its icon will look a bit strange because it has
no file extension.

Make a backup copy of the company file first!

Open the file with notepad.

You will see there is a line for the path to the data for each company
the contents of the file is plain text (there may be an odd symbol on
a line at the end, don't worry about it)

Cut and paste the paths to get the companies in the order you want them.
