What are the names of all of the Fidelity (FMR Corp.) funds,
corporations, and limited partnerships? I need to know the hierarchy
of business entities within the Fidelity family of companies.

Here's a list of their funds:

http://personal.fidelity.com/products/products_overview.shtml.cvsr?bar=c

but as for the corporate hierarchy of affiliated companies....Whew!

If you've already identified some members of the hierarchy, it would
be helpful to know what you have already, so we don't go reinventing
the wheel.

Thanks,

Thanks for looking thus far.

The company at the "top" of the pyramid is FMR Corp., usually referred
to as "Fidelity Investments." It has several wholly owned
subsidiaries, such as Fidelity Investments Institutional Services
Company, Inc. (FIIS), for example. I am looking for the complete list
of companies in which FMR Corp. and the Johnson family have
controlling interest. FMR Corp. is a privately held company, but
there must be public record of this information somewhere, wouldn't
you think?

The more I look, the more bizarre it gets!

I've found about a dozen subsidiary companies that are part of FMR.
However, even the subsidiaries have subsidiaries, and who knows were
it all comes to an end!

For instance, the Seaport Companies are part of FMR, but this entity
is itself composed of Seaport Hotel and Seaport World Trade Center,
Seaport Asset Management, Sebastians Cafe and Catering, and
ResourcePlus Shows & Events ... and for all I know, there are more
layers below this one.

Please give me some feedback on this. Are you looking for a
comprehensive list of each and every FMR-related company? If so, I'm
not convinced even FMR knows exactly who's who in their empire. Or
perhaps the top-tier companies that I've found thus far would meet
your needs?

Let me know what you think.

I'm really looking for all companies in which FMR Corp., or one of its
subsidiaries, owns a controlling interest. This does involve looking
down the "org chart" multiple levels in some cases. I would be
willing to limit the depth of the hierarchy to 4, except in the case
where this would eliminate any of the investment funds. I looked on
http://corp.sec.state.ma.us/ and found approximately 200 entities
whose name started with "Fidelity" and were located at 82 Devonshire
Street, Boston, but I doubt this source and method could be used
independently to arrive at the answer. I hope this clarifies my
question.

Thanks,

I amend the question to require the answerer to provide a synopsis of
the method(s) use to obtain the information, so that it can be
independently verified if need be.

watou-ga,

I don't have an answer for you, but I just wanted to bring you up to
date. After looking around quite a bit, I've come to the following
conclusions:

--a public list of Fidelity's various business dealings does not seem to exist

--compiling such a list would be a major undertaking, involving weeks of work

--once compiled, the list would almost immediately be dated, as
Fidelity's holdings change so rapidly.

The task is compilcated by the fact that you're seeking funds and
subsidiaries and partnerships through multiple layers of operation, as
well as individual holdings by the Johnson family as well.

You can see how this gets to be a very large task.

HOWEVER, there are two tools that may work to get you at least part
way there. The first is a well-constructed Google search which
returns a lot of Fidelity's companies:

Listed here are Veritude, National Financial, TEDS Inc, FISC Ireland,
and many others.

Some other Google searches could be constructed to uncover additional
companies as well.

The other resource is the Mass. Secretary of State site that you
already pointed to. Using this to search for members of the Johnson
family as Directors of various companies and activities can identify
quite a few other entities related -- one way or another -- to
Fidelity and/or to the the Johnsons.

I wish I knew of a clever way to create a complete list, but alas...

Still, I wanted to at least point our some of the possible search
strategies you may want to try on your own.

Good luck,
