Paul Bragg wrote a best-seller called, "The Miracle of Fasting". He
was born 1881 and died 1976, in Hawaii, body-surfing, at the age of
95. I need his birth/death dates.

Hi bluestreak...

Searching around, there seems to be quite a bit of disagreement
about Paul's age at his death. There also seems to be uncertainty
regarding his death occurring while body-surfing. One writer says
he read, in a book by Paul's daughter, that he died in a car
accident. See the post on this page on Rawtimes, by searching the
page for: '14:33:25 (PDT)' - without quotes.

It seems there may have been some dissemblance going on, of which
he was aware. Search this page on ChetDay.com for the term
'PAUL BRAGG LIKED BURGERS':
http://chetday.com/healthgurus.htm

Consequently, the birth and death dates I found by searching
on the Social Security Death Index Search, which is a very
authoritative resource, seem less puzzling, to me.

There's a Paul Bragg who died in December, 1976, who was born
February 6. 1895, which would make him 81. His last recorded
place of residence was Desert Hot Springs, Riverside, CA in
zip code 92240. This sounds like our man. See this page:
http://ssdi.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/ssdi.cgi?lastname=Bragg&firstname=Paul&middlename=&ssn=&zip=&start=30&issue=&birth=&death=&bmo=&dmo=&lump=&bda=&dda=&nt=exact&ls=&lc=&lct=&lus=&luc=&luct=&stat=

Only two other Paul Braggs were born so long ago - one was
born July 11, 1894 and died in November 1973 with the last
residence being Framingham, Middlesex, MA in zip code 01701.
He was 79.

The other was born August, 1895, and died in February, 1975,
with the last residence being in Florida, in zip code 32748.
He was 79.

These last two are on this page:
http://ssdi.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/ssdi.cgi?lastname=Bragg&firstname=Paul&middlename=&ssn=&zip=&start=0&issue=&birth=&death=&bmo=&dmo=&lump=&bda=&dda=&nt=exact&ls=&lc=&lct=&lus=&luc=&luct=&stat=

I'm not going to post this as an answer until you approve
it, since there's such a large discrepancy in the ages,
though I think it likely that this man's legendary status
has resulted in some exaggeration of his age at death.
Also, I wouldn't know of a more authoritative alternative
for the information.

Sublime1,

Yes, I see your point. The one who died in 1976 could well be our
man. The year is right, and I agree about the desire to make
nutritionists older. The followers of Noman Walker have done that. I
do not know if Bragg lived in Hawaii or not. Let's hold off for the
moment and see if we can come up with any other linkage. If none
does, I am prepared to accept your findings. Thank you for your
skills on my behalf. bluestreak

sublime1,

Yes, you are quite right. And happily, just yesterday, while trying
to find linkage, I did find it. I found a reference by Paul Bragg,
where he was saying, "Here at our home in Hot Desert Springs", so you
have indeed found the right man. So, if you could resubmit your
information as an answer, I will be delighted to credit you with the
hit, and tip you. Thank you so much for your great hunting skills, as
usual. bluestreak

I'm glad you were able to confirm his residence in Desert
Hot Springs, thus confirming the first listing.
