Dear Tito Jackson,
I am honoured to have an ex-pop star asking me a question :-)
The first commercial CD ever, according to General Music Collecting
FAQ (they are relying on the "Tenth Anniversary of The CD" supplement
to the 26 Sep 1992 issue of Billboard Magazine), was Billy Joel's 52nd
St., released in Japan on October 1st, 1982.
The first commercial audio CD manufactured in the United States had to
wait until September 1984: it was "Born in the USA".

Here are more sources:
"In October compact disc (CD) players are introduced by CBS/Sony and
Philips; the CD is a 120-mm (4.7-in.) diameter plastic disk that uses
tiny pits read by a laser to reproduce sound or other information. The
first commercial CD is "52nd Street" by composer-singer Billy Joel. "

"After six months, the German plant had produced over half a million
CDs. But the world's first Compact Disc - produced on August 17, 1982
- was a selection of Chopin waltzes played by pianist Claudio Arrau.
To mark this historic event, Arrau came to the Hanover factory and
pressed the start button. A little later in Japan, Sony produced it's
first commercial CD, Billy Joel's album 52nd Street." (SOURCE: "Where
were you when the first CD was produced? CDs - 20 years on." , One to
