I am installing Autocad Land Desktop 2005 and at about 99% into the
installation I get this Error 1935 error "An error occured during the
installation of assembly MSXML2 type =Win32
Version = 4.20.9818.0...etc"

I have tried many so called fixes posted on the web sites to no avail.

Hopw do I get rid of this error?

Thanks for the tip. But that still did not work for me.
The first fix did not work and as for the second,
I could not run my installer program in Safe mode

I had a similar problem.
In addition to the Faq at Autodesk
What I have done is:
*Remove any optional hardware that requires installation of drivers
(printers, add on cards.)
*Defrag and repair harddisks
*Delete all the previous installation files if there are any.
*Type msconfig to Run... and Select Disable All from Startup options
(That is gonna make the windows to boot without any additional startup
programs.)
*Restart
*Install Autocad but on a different harddisk/partition if possible

After the installation do not forget to rerun msconfig and set the
startup to normal mode.

I assumed you are using winxp. If this does not work I would try to
install to a fresh installation of Xp after setting the installer
service to manual.

If what djfreex-ga susggests you to do does not work you might as well
contact the AutoDESK helpdesk as they suggest at the bottom of the
FAQ. It is why you pay money bags for that program for the support.

djfreex-ga, you were so right. I disabled all startups and installed
to my F: drive instead of the C: and it worked. After three whole, and
I mean whole, days.
U now have Land Development Desktop 2005 installed and running.
Man, thanks a whole lot.

Use the Microsoft Windows installer cleanup utility. Works great for
msi failures when all else fails. Install the utility, launch it and
find your install you want to remove. Remove the failed install,
reboot and install you application. If your application fails again it
is related to the application. Write down the error and either search
the google newsgroups or the web with the exact error message as your
search words.
