The Chips' original 1956 version of "Rubber Biscuit" gained new life
in 1979, when the Blues brothers made the song a hit all over again.
Sam Strain, who co-wrote "Rubber Biscuit," is better known as a member
of Little Anthony and the Imperials and the O'Jays.
As near as can be told, the song's lyrics consist of gibberish, with
nonsensical spoken interjections:
RUBBER BISCUIT (a bouncy, but flaky transcription)

The song had its origins in phrases that the Chips heard while in
reform school, according to a 1999 newsgroup post:

In the middle 1950s, when "Rubber Biscuit" was written, there were
many doo-wop songs with wacky refrains such as "ooh ee ooh ah ah, ting
tang walla walla bing bang" (from "Witch Doctor,") "bing bang biddly
bang, baby, lemme in" (from The Big Bopper's version of "Little Red
Riding Hood,") and "sha na na na, sha na na na na, yip yip yip yip yip
yip yip yip, mum mum mum mum mum mum" (from "Get a Job.) To ascribe
any particular "meaning" to lines like "cow cow lubba 'n a blubba
lubba ow rown hibb'n 'n a-hibba-lu" would be to miss the exhuberant,
loopy spirit of "Rubber Biscuit," which Frank Zappa once called "the
ultimate in nonsensical music."
If you like this song, I recommend a wonderful album called "Rubber
Biscuits and Rama Lama Ding Dongs," available here:
