Dear Routs,

Here are several ideas on what to sell on eBay:

- If you are able to travel to China (and less so, but also India, the
Philippines and Indonesia), it might be possible for you to purchase
mass manufactured goods (toys, cosmetics, electronics) and sell them
on eBay. The prices of those items in China are remarkably cheap in
comparison to the UK.

- From other countries, I would probably bring things that are either
unavailable in the UK (not becuase of legal prohibition, of course),
or are hard-to-find: American editions of CDs or other popular items
that haven't been released yet in the UK; perhaps some food items; and
designer clothing from both countries.

- For countries that are considered "exotic" by some (Arab countries,
Japan, Russia, Israel, etc.), even bringing items written in that
country's language, or "typical" ethnic items from these countries
might do the trick.

- You could also decide that you specialise in a certain field (e.g.,
antiques). If you'll go to flea-markets in Australia, US and similar
countries, you'd probably find things that antique buyers in the UK
won't.

To know more about such trends on eBay, read the following:
 Hot Toys Christmas 2003

What's Hot on eBay
< http://pages.ebay.com/sellercentral/whatshot.html> - what are the
most selling items on the American site.

Want It Now
<http://pages.ebay.co.uk/wantitnow/index.html> - what people listed as
their wishes, in the British site.

Naturally, you would want to know the import regulations on items you
wish to take into the country:
HM Customs

Further Idea
------------
If you have knowledge of such flights, you might be able to offer
yourself as a personal courier, taking things from one country to
another. I couldn't understand from your question whether you have a
regular schedule, or that you have affordable flights to "random"
destination. If the former is correct, this could be a possibility.

Read more about this possibility here:
Air Courier.co.uk
<http://www.aircourier.co.uk/index.htm>

I hope this answers your question. Please contact me if you need any
further clarification on this answer before you rate it. My search
strategy was to seek items that are considerably cheaper overseas, or
in demand in the UK.

If you are bringing in items specifically for reselling, this counts
as commercial importing, and you will be liable for Customs duties and
VAT at the point of entry to the EU.

You will also be liable as the manufacturer/importer of the item into
the EU for all certification and product liability issues.

I am based in China and if you are interested in partnering with
someone over here to get you cheap manufactured merchandise here, we
may be able to work something out. I go to the UK frequently and we
may be able to do something together. Email me if you are interested.
