I live in Charlotte, NC and am currently working with a software programmer in Georgia, Europe. For his services, I need to have a way for me to transfer money or add money into some type of money account quickly. I've checked and PayPal will not work for his country. Please give me 2 or 3 suggested solutions for this problem. Thanks Darrell Tyler |

Dear Target Market, The first alternative might be Western Union. Western Union would wire the money to this person's post office (or Western Union) office, and s/he will pick it up from there. Please note, that sending money through Western Union is good only for cases like yours, when you know the person and trust him/her, because it is like sending the money through the post, in the sense that you cannot recover it: Western Union <http://www.westernunion.com/> Netteler seem to be a service, where you can transfer funds through e-cheques, ATM cards (they send him an ATM card and he can withrdaw the money in Georgia through ATM machines), etc. Neteller <http://www.neteller.com/ab/> A list of PayPal alternatives could be found on the site "PayPal Sucks" (of course, an anti-PayPal site): No-PayPal Alternatives & Options <http://www.paypalsucks.com/options.shtml> I hope this answers your question. Please contact me if you need any clarification on this answer before you rate it. | |

In case the programmer has a bank account, have you considered a simple direct bank transfer? Scriptor |

HI, This site tells about what banks in Georgia can do, also accept checks on other banks. You could buy a banker's draft (a check issued by a bank), but this would cost you something, and it would probably cost your programmer even more to have it cashed or credited to his account. Scriptor has the best suggestion: a direct bank transfer. It will be fastest and should minimize costs for the programmer. The $13 seems reasonable, and could perhaps be seen in relationship to the price for the programmer's work in comparison with what it would have cost elsewhere. Myoarin |
