Google does whatever I tell them!
...Er...well...Google Maps does whatever I tell it!
...That is, as long as what I tell it is provided by the mapping controls.
First, head to the Google Maps main page:
http://maps.google.com/
and enter the name of a place in the search box [ e.g. Nashville, TN ]
to bring up a more local map:
You'll notice on the left hand side of the map page a sliding zoom bar
-- you can use this to adjust the scale of the map until you get a
60-mile radius.
It's a bit awkward to do, since you have to use the mile/km scale at
the bottom left of the map to estimate what 60 miles looks like. It
will take a few wiggles of the zoom bar to get it right.
On the top right of the page is some hypertext: "Link to this page".
Click on this bring you to an actual URL that can be used as a
permanent link to the map.
I trust this information fully answers your question. However, please
don't rate this answer until you have everything you need. If you
would like any additional information, just post a Request for
Clarification to let me know how I can assist you further, and I'm at
your service.
All the best,
