The problem of this answer is that it includes civil and political
violence which, however, does not qualify as war.
The suppression of Tiananmen Sq demonstration does not belong in this
list. (Even though China of course does.)
Same problem with the internal squabbles in Bangladesh.
Albany, just for having had a communist government, cannot be called a
country at war during that time.
I have found similar lists before, so, it is actually not that useful.
Thank you,

I left civil unrests in the list, because some people would classify
them as "civil war". For example the troubles in Northern Ireland,
although not technically a war, qualify in terms of the level misery
caused. And because it would only take you a moment to remove them
from the list if they were inappropriate.

If you already had such a list, perhaps the question would have been
better phrased "this is the list I have, are there any wars missing
from it."

I think I clearly seperated the 3 categories I was interested in.

There are many lists out there and none of them are complete or clear
in their criteria. Hence I trid this service.

Also, consider that some contries in the list you suggest seem to
qualify since they had a communist regime or a coup. At best, that is
very misleading.

I would like to point out that US involvement in Vietnam ended, not in
1973, but in April of 1975 when the US Embassy in Saigon was overrun.
My husband was a Marine escort on the last helicopter taking refugees
off the roof of the Embassy, just before the NVA mortars found their
range and scored a direct hit.
