3 months in Nicaragua, and 3 months in Guatemala doing field research
for her doctorate. We had a terrible time finding an ISP then.
Luckily, with the passage of time, there are a few ISP providers, but
still not many, in Central America. My daughter ended up using
computers in local universities.
According to the FRIDA, Regional Fund for Digital Innovation in the
Latin America and Caribbean, site below, Nicaragua simply does not
have the infrastructure in place to support high speed internet
service as of yet.This is a huge project currently being undertaken
As you can see, according to this chart (Page 3), only about 15% of
Nicaraguanbusinesses have access to internet services, and only 1.4%
of those have broadband(High speed)!.

This service only offers dial-up, Wi-Fi, and satellite. It may come in
handy should you not find a broadband connection in the part of
Nicaragua you may be visiting.
Internet cafes may be your best choice, if traveling.
