There was this TV show about different ads from around the world, and
one from Britain knocked me out.

It had a brunette dressed in black, with a strong British accent,
talking to the camera about how adultery is defined as a husband
imagining having an affair with another woman.

Then she starts talking dirty, and asks any wives watching whether
their husbands had just committed adultery.

What’s the ad, and where can I find it?

I haven't seen it... something like that would have caught my
attention me thinks ;-)
Any idea of the type of product it was advertising?

No, unfortuneately I can't remember which product it was advertising,
it could be anything.

I watch far too many ads, and I've never come across it, I'm afraid.

Could it have been an extract from a TV programme, rather than an ad?

grimace-ga, it was 100% definitely an ad, which was featured on an
Australian TV show which showed different commercials. It's hosted by
Cameron Daddo.

read2live-ga, it was 100% definitely in English.

robw-ga, I doubt that it was a cinema-only ad, as it was not racy
enough to not be shown on TV. An ad has to be pretty full on not to be
shown on TV, such as Kylie Minogue's lingerie ad.

musican-ga, it's possible that it could be a more recent TV addition
to the cosmetics ad series, but I cannot say for sure. I don't even
remember what was being advertised.

resolutionman-ga, it was one of those "World's Best/Sexiest
Commercials" shows that air every few months or so, usually hosted by
a Daddo. It definitely was not an ad for Coke, though.

To add to Grimace-ga's comment:

There are several British tv programs which show ads from around the
world; Jasper Carrott was, I think, one of the first to make this type
of show. Naturally, when the original ad was in some language other
than English, the ad would be voiced-over in English.

This of course could widen the possibilities, not narrow them....

Good luck,

Could this have been a cinema only advert? Some ads, especially saucy
ones, are shown in a different form to their tv equivalents before
films; that could explain why none of us have seen it.

Commercial television (ITV and Channel 4) in the UK is regulated by
the Independent Television Commission (www.itc.org.uk). On their
website "Do you want information about a TV advertisement?" they
write:

The ITC only keeps records about television advertisements which have
attracted complaints. For general information on which advertisers and
advertising agencies are associated with which advertisements contact
the Broadcast Advertising Clearance Centre (BACC). The History of
Advertising Trust provides useful information on past advertising.

http://www.bacc.org.uk/
http://www.hatads.org.uk/

The BACC would likely be the most promising avenue of enquiry,
unfortunately their website doesn't appear to comply with web
accessibility guidelines and I can't progress the enquiry further.

The only ad which I remember that comes close to this was a
cinema-only campaign for 'No 7' cosmetics (sold by Boots), which aired
probably 10 years ago.

The ad I remember wasn't exactly as described, but it featured a woman
talking directly to camera (against a plain background) in a way
designed to make the male members of the audience feel unconfortable
(no pun intended!). I don't remember much of it, although I think the
last line the model said was 'enjoy the film, boys!'

The strap-line to the ad, if I recall, was something like 'It's not
make-up. It's ammunition.'

Could be a different ad in the same series?

I was unable to find the ad but could this be the show you were
watching?
