unbreakable record?

I would like some statistics (cold hard math) to back up any

Carolinablue --

Many argue that it's DiMaggio's 56-game hitting streak. Indeed, MLB
has a fantasy game called "Beat the Streak" and winners selecting
batters each day have only achieved 35-41 game streaks in the past 3
years, an indication of how hard it is to accomplish, even with
batters hitting 4 times or more each game and hitting for averages
above .300.

Others argue that it's Cal Ripken's 2,632 consecutive games -- if only
because that's more than 16 consecutive seasons without an injury,
death in the family, or day off. Inasmuch as players are routinely
rested by the managers for performance reasons, this one may be
tougher:

Net: I think that this is in the realm of highly debatable sports questions.

Nap LaJoie's .426 batting average in 1901 (or Hugh Duffy's pre-1900
.440) seems unbreakable now, since no one has even hit .400 since Ted
Williams in 1941.

Ron Hunt of the Montreal Expos (and San Francisco Giants) was beaned
by a pitch 50 times in 1971. Because no one in his right mind WANTS to
break that record, it's considered to be one of baseball's untouchable
records.

One quote attributed to Hunt on this subject is:

"Everything worthwhile in life is worth a price. Some people give
their bodies to science, I give mine to baseball."

Incidentnally, Hunt was beaned 243 time in his career second only to
Don Baylor who got branded 267 times. But Hunt still holds the record
for the most bull's-eyes in a single season. I'll bet even Baylor was
ok with that.

Let me know if this works as an answer for you.

Craig Biggio is now the major league leader in career Hit-By-Pitch.
He passed Don Baylor earlier this year. But again, never 50 times in
one season.

What about oldest player? Wasn't there a Negro pitcher that ...
Yeah, of course, Satchel Paige:

Not impossible but highly unlikely:
1. pitching a perfect game
2. pitcher winning 30+ games in one season. Since Denny McLain hasn't been done.
3. triple crown hitter

what are the odds of someone breaking Johnny Vandermeer record of
consecutive no hitters. To break it would you have to pitch three in
a row?
