I have two letters. One from President Clinton and one from Mrs.
Clinton. They were sent to me by them in response to a letter I sent
to them about the President's sexual harrassment case. I was told
that they are probably the only two letters in existence, handwritten
notes, that address that issue. Could you find someone that might buy
these from me? Better stated, could you find me a list of people that
do business in rare signatures/letters?

Hi again, Randy!

I've gathered some contact information for collectors and businesses

thanks but i learned a great lesson...i contacted half dozen rare
signature/document/letters retailers and even though they advertised
items on the Clintons that didn't come close to the value and quality
of my signed letters, they were charging five thousand dollars and up
lpromoting that these were very rare and difficult to find...each of
these places had several letters etc. for sale on the Clintons.
However, when I called, they said they couldn't buy mine because there
was no demand......or they would buy and the most they could pay would
be a hundred dollars or less (this same place had a clinton letter
initialed, not signed, and no hand written note) on their site for
$6,500 and they offered me $100 for mine.

what that tells me is the whole industry of rare signatures and
documents is a fraud ....they create the demand thru exaggerated
advertising and when you buy you are stuck.

i found this true in the wine business also. these vinyards go
auction to auction bidding up their wines so that five dollar bottle
they were welling last month is not $30 today for no reason other than
mani;ulating lprices. in 1995 I bought a hundred cases of the rarest
first growth bordeaux wines....lpetrus, rothchiles, etc. in years
1982, 1990 only. I paid $55,000 for the wine. Earlier this year I
got catelog from "wholesaler" asking $512,000 for the same wine. I
called them and they offered me $70,000. I was upset and asked the
guy why so little...he said..that is why the wine industry tells you
to buy wine to drink and not as an investment. because it is no good
for investment but they don't want you to know. signatures and wine
are like the franklin mint crap my mother bought and lost her savings
on.

Randy,

I am sorry to hear that you've had bad experiences with these dealers.
You might consider placing your items on eBay (with an appropriately
high reserve, or minimum bid) to see whether you can get a good
response. An acquaintance of mine offered some old autographed movie
photos on eBay, and she was very pleased with the results. She ended
up selling the photos for about ten times as much as what she'd been
offered by an autograph dealer.
