Hi There! My subject is UFOs. No snickering! ;-) A 5-star answer would be a list of 20 books that look at objective evidence for/against UFOs. Examples: UFOs: A Scientific Analysis by Paul R. Hill UFOs and the National Security State by Richard M. Doland However, books in the following categories would be less helpful: sensational, conspiratorial, or just plain nuts. Examples: UFO: Abducted in Las Vegas by Mr. Mib Little Green Men Love Little Green Women by Dr. Z Area 51 Cookbook by Julia X. You get the picture. I'm looking for as much objectivity as I can find in this unusual area. All comments greatly appreciated. Thanks a million! ron |

Howdy, Ron! Fascinating subject matter! I've read quite a bit on this topic myself. I am a devout skeptic regarding the notion that alien being are visiting us, but I like to read intelligent discussions of the subject and view the alleged evidence. This list has a certain inevitable slant to it, because of my status as a UFO unbeliever, but I do believe that all of these books are worth reading. None are tabloid junk, and a few are quite scholarly. Here's a list of twenty books from fairly reputable sources: UFO Briefing Document : The Best Available Evidence http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/044023638X Firestorm: Dr. James E. PinkFreud, You are truly a renaissance woman! Thank you for your exceptional work...as always! ron P.S. Given that you (1) know Freud and (2) know cigar-shaped UFOs, I was wondering if... Uh...er...um...never mind! |

Howdy ron, Granted, probably not objective, but "The Interrupted Journey" by John G. Fuller and about the abduction of Betty and Barney Hill in 1961, is a "must read" on the subject. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/044014115X/qid=1130898878/ It shows up on "The best UFO books in English" list that Pink, in a great answer, references. I think one of the most interesting UFO pages I've come across was about President Carter, who apparently made some brief inquiries. The article is pretty weak, if you read carefully and notice it's third-hand, but it is interesting: http://www.presidentialufo.com/nobel_prize.htm The area of ET artifacts is more promising, in some ways. From time to time, one can find ET artifacts on EBay. Those who find UFOlogy disturbing cite among the chief reasons that it breaks all the basic rules of logical argument. If a thing doesn't fit logic, a conspiracy is blamed. And actually classified martian meteorites don't help much. Locating ET artifacts is probably the thing to do, hobby-wise. They probably have a lot of characteristics that might make them detectable. |

scotttygett, Wow! That's a lot of tees...heh heh heh On a more serious note, thanks for your insightful comments. I didn't know about the classified Martian meteorites. Fascinating. I will look into it right away. I am currently reading about micro-meteorites embedded in larger objects. The micro-meteorites are the size of jelly beans. Don't know yet if this is legitimate science or a hoax. It's interesting in any event! Thanks again for your comments. ron |

scotttygett >And actually classified martian meteorites don't help much. Classified as in security? Could you provide a link, please? I know Martian meteorites are classified by type, but I'd not heard of that before. Cheers Ian G. |
