Diebold Election Systems
=====

Diebold is a publicly-traded company and as such, is owned by a large
number of shareholders -- 69,613 shareholders, to be precise,
according to their most recent annual report to the SEC.

The report, along with Diebold's other SEC filings, can be retrieved here:

http://phx.corporate-ir.net/phoenix.zhtml?c=106584&p=irol-sec

As part of Diebold's reporting to the SEC, they are required to
identify any shareholders owning 5% or more of the company's stock.
In their most recent report from March 16, 2005:

http://phx.corporate-ir.net/phoenix.zhtml?c=106584&p=irol-sec
PROXY STATEMENT
DEF 14A

they note only a single owner that exceeds the 5% threshold:

==========
To the knowledge of the Corporation, no person beneficially owned more
than 5 percent of the outstanding Common Shares as of December 31,
2004, except for the shareholders listed below.

FMR Corp.
82 Devonshire Street
Boston, Massachusetts 02109

6,713,270 common shares

9.4% of common shares
==========

In other words, FMR Corp owns a good chunk of Diebold, and therefore,
a good chunk of Diebold Election Systems.

The Proxy Report goes on to note:

==========
FMR Corp. reported that, as of December 31, 2004,

(1) FMR Corp. et al. beneficially owned 6,713,270 shares, had sole
voting power as to 182,830 shares and had sole dispositive power over
6,713,270 shares,

(2) Fidelity Management & Research Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary
of FMR Corp. and an investment adviser, is the beneficial owner of
6,540,670 shares,

(3) the shares beneficially owned by FMR Corp. are, for the most part,
held by investment companies and institutional accounts managed by
subsidiaries of FMR Corp., and

(4) the family of Edward C. Johnson 3d, including Mr. Johnson, the
Chairman of FMR Corp., and his daughter Abigail Johnson, a director of
FMR Corp., may be deemed to form a controlling group with respect to
FMR Corp.
==========

So their you have it...the Johnson family, particularly Edward and
Abigail Johnson, exercise a controlling interest in FMR Corp, which
has substantial holdings in Diebold.

I believe this is the closest one can come to identifying individual
'owners' of Diebold Election Systems.
