Question ID: 592198
I need a recording (VHS) of a PBS special that aired in 1982 or 1983,
I think, called Acting Shakespeare, featuring Ian McKellen (most
recently of Gandalf fame). The show is a 90 minute modified staging
of Sir Ian's stage show. In the recording, he is alone on stage, with
no props or scenery, and performs monologues from Shakespeare and
discusses some of his plays. Comments on this show on the Internet
Movie Database (imdb.com) make it pretty clear that this has not been
commercially produced, so what I'm looking for is some other fan or
librarian or English teacher who taped this and HELD ONTO IT. (Our
school library had a copy back then but it's no longer in the
collection.) This recording literally changed my life (if you find it
for me I'll tell you how), and it would mean the world to me to own my
own copy.

The Library at University of California, Berkeley has a VHS copy;
perhaps you might be able to get it via interlibrary loan.

I have signed up for inter-library loan privileges, and requested the
video through that. Will let you know (and pay up!) if it works

Thanks, Bobbie.

Any news?

Were you able to get the video via interlibrary loan?
