I need a list of all USA county names and I want it delivered in two
forms: one without states appended and one with the states appended.
On the one without states, if a county name exists in more than one
state, just list the county name once.
On the one with the states, if a county name exists in more than one
state, include each occurence (please do not include a comma between
county and state names).
For both types, the format I need is ONE PER LINE as shown in the
examples (preferably in alphabetical order):
With State appended:
Dutchess County New York
Orange County New York
Orange County California
Westchester County New York
Without state appended:
Dutchess County
Orange County
Westchester County |

Ralph,
I have a list of all counties in the US (about 3,100) and their state.
I'd be glad to provide two copies -- one as is, and one with the
states, and any duplicate county names, removed.
However, the states are in two-letter abbreviation format:
Dutchess County NY
rather than
Dutchess County New York
Will that be OK for your needs?

The abbreviated state should be fine, thank you for asking.

Hello ralphnap-ga
Thank-you for your question.
I have compiled the lists that you requested from the following sources:
http://www.ng3k.com/Misc/usc_a-c.html (and links from this page)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Lists_of_U.S._counties
Due to the length of the lists I have posted them online. Please go
to the following locations and download the files (they will only be
available online for 14 days after which time they will be deleted).
Alphabetical with no states:

Should you require any further information on this subject please do
not hesitate to ask for clarification. |

Please ignore the previous results, I accidentally pointed you to my
work-in-progress files instead of the completed files. The links you
require are in fact the following ones.
Alphabetical with no states:

Alphabetical with states:

Sorry again for the confusion.

Nice job. You did it so well I have another request and hope it does
not affect the price. I know I can pretty easily do this myself, it
would just be nice to have it already done. Actually, I hadn't thought
of this until I saw your completed list.
Can you also provide the state list with the state name abbreviated
instead of spelled out (NY instead of New York, etc.)?
Can you also separate the documents with state names (both abbreviated
and spelled out) into separate folders?
That would be a total of 5 iterations of the list,
-One with county names, one with county names and state names spelled
out (these are already completed)
-Two with county names spelled out and state name abbreviated (one
run-on document and one in a folder of state name folders),
-One with county AND state names spelled out in a folder of state name folder.
Please advise.
Thank you.

This will be quite a bit of extra work but I should be able to complete it today.
I am a little confused at the extras you require, one is simple but I
am not sure about the others... The simple one is the abbreviations of
the State Names in the list.
What are the other two you require? Is it a folder containing one
text file per state? Each text file would contain the county names
within that state.

Thank you for already doing the abbreviations.
Yes, what I need next is the text file for each state in a separate
folder for each state.
If possible I wanted that for both the spelled out state names and the
abbreviated state names. One master folder for each, as such:
Counties with state names spelled out folder> inside is a folder for each state
Counties with state names abbreviated folder> inside is a folder for each state
So, that means just two more iterations.
Is another $10 adequate?

Thank-you for the 5-star rating and tip. They are both appreciated.
I am still not 100% sure what the additional requirements are that you
require so before I continue I would like to clarify once more.
You require a folder or directory named STATE which contains a text
file with all the COUNTY NAMES in it.
Is this correct? And you require it for Long State Names and
Abbreviated State Names.

This took quite a while to sort out so hopefully it is what you
require, if not please let me know. I wanted to post these now as I
will be offline for approximately 15 hours and unable to answer your
questions until I return.
