Question ID: 598707
I am a UK national seeking employment in the Cayman Islands? I
currently possess credentials in the following sectors: computers and
finance so initially focussing on employment in these areas but I am
interested in other opportunities as well.

Summary:
Initially started researching the possibility of employment in the
Caymans in April and came up with the following information but then
lost my way and became employed with a financial organisation in the
UK. During my search it was difficult to find organisations to apply
to directly.

Information all ready gathered:

This informed me about having to obtain a work permit and having to
apply through a Cayman employer.
http://www.gov.ky/servlet/page?_pageid=107&_dad=portal30&_schema=PORTAL30&_mode=3#0

This is the only employment agency I found but didn?t have much success with them.
http://www.brightstaff.ky/

I maybe wrong but just seemed a little unprofessional plus they were
charging a subscription fee on a monthly basis.
http://jobinthesun.com/jms/jspreview/search.cfm

The only actual corporation I found with a direct application point
for employment positions in Cayman was the following and again no
luck.
http://www.hsbc.ky/EMPLOPPS.HTM

What I?m looking for is contact details of:
-Organisations
-Businesses
-Employment Agencies

That I can apply to for employment

Plus information on (strategy) how to go about applying for employment
in the Cayman Islands.

Hi jonboy1357-ga!

Please take note that we cannot guarantee that you can get a Cayman
Islands employment with our answer. We can only provide a list of the
the types of organizations you need but we can't guarantee that they
will be successful.

Would a simple lists of the organizations and businesses be enough as an answer?

Thanks!

I appreciate that you can?t guarantee anything, so an organisation
list including details such as name, contact information, brief
description, positions available if quoted etc?

My opinion - applying for jobs is a bit of a numbers game so just
looking for as many quality employment opportunities as possible,
again that?s why I?m not restricting my search to just the computer
and finance sectors. Plus any tips or advice on applying to a foreign
(or Cayman based) organisation would be appreciated.

Thanks for your help

Request for a delay ? I appreciate that this service operates on the
basis that the information gathered is shared openly this I don?t have
a problem with and appreciate the philosophy but because of the nature
of the information that I?m looking for would it be possible for you
to delay the display of the information say for a couple of days or
maybe a week to give me a chance to apply to these organisation that
you come up with.

I would greatly appreciate some consideration on this

Thanks again

Hi again jonboy1357!

Google Answers Researchers must make their answers public at the
outset. We cannot provide an answer that can be viewable only to the
asker at any point in time.

Knowing this, how do you want us to proceed with this matter?

Thanks!

Thanks for your consideration on that, but please continue with the
research as previously discussed.

Thanks again

Hi jonboy1357-ga!

Just to make it clear:

So is it ok with you if we post the answer immediately here? I really
apologize that this is the only way to do it.

Here are my findings so far.

a.) I was able to find a good directory of businesses in the Cayman
Islands. Is it ok if I give you the link to the different business
categories (different types not only computer and financial ones).
When you go there you just click on a spoecific category like,
"Accountants" and you get a list of Accounting firms with contact
information.

b.) I can also provide a list of employment agencies. Maybe about 5 to 10.

c.) Would links to Cayman Islands Job Search sites be ok with you.
This will povide the source for possible job openings in the region.

d.) Would just links to articles providing tips about employment in
the Cayman Islands be just fine?

Would my findings from A to D be enough as an answer?

Thanks!

Hi! Thanks for the question.

First off, I am going to provide here two directory sites that provide
contact information for different business types in the Caribbean. As
one of the cited articles will later say, one conservative way to get
a job is still to send your resumes to individual companies since the
Cayman Islands do not have a very extensive Job Search site.

Cayman Islands Chamber of Commerce Business Directory
http://www.wliinc2.com/cgi/foxweb.dll/wlx/dir/wlxcatelist?cc=CICC

Caribbean Yellow Pages
http://www.yellowpages-caribbean.com/Countries/Cayman/index.cfm

Our third resource only has links to the individual website. The
beauty of this is that you can study the company first before
forwarding your application.

Job Search Sites that has listings for the Cayman Islands:

The problem right now with the Cayman Islands is that it has no real
job search sites set-up like a Monster.com, etc.

?I receive this question a lot and unfortunately there isn't too much
direct advice I can give you, as Cayman has no real job search
websites set up, especially not after the hurricane. Instead of
looking for jobs that are already available and being advertised,
usually the best thing to do would be to just write to companies with
your resume that deal with the area of work you specialise in.?

http://www.jobinthesun.com has been offering jobs since 2002
They charge job seekers for access instead of employers.
»That`s the standard in the Caribbean Islands.

Very effective.
