I would like to know how to sell an authentic Kodiak Brown Bear Rug
(with mounted head). It has an appraised value of $7,500 so it is an
excellent example of this type of rug. Since I have recently
inherited it, I have little knowledge of taxidermy and how to sell
such items. I would be willing to sell it online, through a
publication or at an appropriate auction. I am aware that some sites
do not allow the sale of animals or animal parts. Although Ebay allows
such sales, I don't see similar items for sale. I have evaluated
taxidermy.net and did not find it helpful. I think I will need to
appeal to a relatively well- healed audience. Any ideas? (My state
does allow the sale of this type of rug.)

Just a comment or two...

House about a reputable auction house in your area/state? I am sure
someone would love to own such a great/rare find. Or, check out a fur
store in your area that sells fur clothing items. maybe they could
sell the item on consignment for you, or know of a contact that may be
able to assist you. Maybe the fur store would like to buy it?!!

Also, ebay is a good idea. I am sure you wont see a lot of those rugs
for sale because it is rare. Keep in mind, people love ebay; you will
definatly attract lookers and bidder from all areas (not just in your
city/state). I would definately explore that option... but make sure
you are careful.

Otherwise, how about an antique/consignment shop that specilizes in rarity?
