I'm writing an application in VB.NET and need to be able to respond to events from MSN Messenger v4.6. Microsoft has an API for this application (http://msdn.microsoft.com/downloads/default.asp?url=/downloads/topic.asp?url=/msdn-files/028/001/359/topic.xml) and I've successfully been able to grab 'property' information, but when I try implementing a function that will respond to an 'event', like when someone on your contact list changes their status (eg: from online to offline) my procedure is not being called. From what I can tell this at most would be a 4-5 line snippet of code. | |

You may want to check out Tek-Tips Forums' "Writing MSN Bots in VB" for some possible code examples that may work for you. While it appears that some of these no longer work with the newer version of MSN Messenger, there is a community here that is looking to make it work. If the exact solution isnt posted, perhaps you would like to add your question to the thread, or contact some of the individuals directly for their own solutions or request their help. The thread is at http://www.tek-tips.com/gviewthread.cfm/lev2/67/lev3/73/pid/611/qid/187677 |

I would assume that you already know all about this: http://msdn.microsoft.com/downloads/default.asp?url=/downloads/topic.asp?url=/msdn-files/028/001/359/topic.xml |

http://www.devcity.net/net/article.aspx?cid=2&y=2002&m=7&d=24 I believe this will answer your question. The events are private and need to be changed to public. This will enable you to use them. I know there is a second article out on the net that talks about this as well, but has the DLL already converted. I will look for it. If I find it great. |
