Hello, stormfield-ga!

Your question is quite straightforward. Since it has gone
unanswered, I will point you in the easiest direction…an internet
search. First, before I begin, I am going on the assumption that your
question is comprised of the classic business definitions for private
equity companies and turnaround services. Since you did not respond to
clarifications, I presume my assumption is correct. Therefore, before
I provide references, I am including the classic definitions of the
two phrases so that the logic of my search is clear.

Private equity companies
Private equity companies provide the capital for small, promising,
entrepreneurial start-ups that “don’t have the necessary assets or
cash flow to receive a bank loan or similar external funding.” These
start-ups often hold the promise of “significant economic
contribution” once they are established and earning a profit.
The private equity company serves as an intermediary between the
company seeking capital and the investors contributing the money. The
role of the private equity company includes several different
components aside from simply providing capital investment.
  1. Finance
  2. Purchasing equity securites
  3. Adding value to the company through active participation,
management support, etc.
  4. Assisting in product development
  5. Taking higher risks in expectation of higher rewards
  6. Investing with a long-term orientation.
  7. Additional responsibilities can include later-stage financing,
buyout transactions, mezzanine capital, and restructuring capital as
well as other private equity.
  8. Lastly, there is the exit strategy – encompassing the time at
which the private equity firm wants to realize their investment, and
how the type of exit is to occur (IPO, company buyback)

Turnaround Services:
Companies often encounter problems because their sales volume and
margins are not adequate to cover costs. They may be heavily in debt
because their sales, production and financial capabilities are out of
sync. As a result, they are not making reasonable profits and/or are
suffering heavy losses. Turnaround services do exactly what their
service implies….help a company to turn itself around into a
well-managed, profitable venture by identifying the source of the
problems and finding solutions.
According to Coleman Capital Advisors, “There are thousands of
different kinds of businesses, but just a handful of reasons why they
fail to thrive….Finding out what’s really going on in a company is
often difficult. Yet, this kind of information is a critical part of
an under-performing situation. The financial audit, important as it
is, cannot by itself provide a complete picture. At best, it can
uncover the symptoms of a problem, without pinpointing the root
causes. At Colmen, we look beyond the financial aspects to basics
such as the quality of management, marketing and manufacturing. To get
a true picture of performance, we study key factors, like product
viability and life cycle, true market share, and customer loyalty and
perception. The result for our clients is a broader, more meaningful
basis for decisions and improved odds for a profitable outcome….Unlike
management consultants who rely on reports to remedy their clients’
problems, Colmen uses experienced business people working with you to
identify problems, recommend solutions and implement these solutions
until your business is turned around. When your business is healthy
and running efficiently again, we can help you decide what to do next.
You may want to expand, merge, or sell.”

Now, to answer your question. The Internet has a wealth of sites for
companies offering turnaround services for private equity companies.
It is merely a matter of investigating prices, reputation and
availability. If you are outside of the United States, you also need
to consider companies that will serve international clients.

The following references should provide you with ample resources to
investigate in terms of turnaround services for management:

   The Turnaround Management Organization at
http://www.turnaround.org/ has a directory of members around the
United States and the world who specialize in turnaround services.
Non-members may purchase the directory for US $175.00, and search
according to specific member industries, specializations,
certifications and geographical locations.

The DMOZ Open Directory Project for Top Business Management
Consulting Firms has an extensive list of companies, from A to Z. Each
company has a link and brief description. Though not all offer what is
“billed” as “turnaround services,” they do offer business management
consulting. The site may be accessed at

I have compiled a list of individual companies that offer “turnaround

Since you did not reply to requests for clarification, I am taking
the assumption that you were using the terminology of private equity
and turnaround services in the classic business sense. I hope the
above information has provided the type of resources you are seeking.

Please ask for further assistance if needed.
