Most sources say that Wal-Mart accounts for an astounding 30 to 40
percent of DVD sales:

"But now with mass merchandisers selling most of Hollywood's DVDs -
Wal-Mart alone accounts for over 30 percent of DVD sales."

Slate: Hollywood's New Year
http://www.slate.com/id/2133291/

"Some studios say accurate industrywide DVD sales numbers cannot be
generated because Wal-Mart, which typically accounts for more than a
third of all DVDs sold, does not make public its sales data."

John August: LA Times story on DVD sales
http://johnaugust.com/archives/2005/la-times-story-on-dvd-sales

"Wal-Mart accounts for an astonishing 37% of what Hollywood puts on
DVD, a 3% increase in market share over last year, according to NPD
Group, which measures the home entertainment market. But revenues from
DVDs account for less than 2% of Wal-Mart's sales -- meaning Hollywood
needs Wal-Mart a lot more than Wal-Mart needs Hollywood."

Variety: Store wars!
http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117932851?categoryid=18&cs=1

"While many people have strong opinions of Wal-Mart, there is little
doubt of its retail power. Approximately 40% of all DVDs sold are sold
through Wal-Mart."

SerenityMovie.net News
http://fireflymovie.com/wp/?p=169

"Wal-Mart is Hollywood's biggest customer, responsible for nearly 40
percent of DVD sales."
