I made a movie trailer using iMovie on an iMac and burned it to DVD. I want to put this on the Internet for other people to download but the iMac had no Internet access, so I put the DVD into my PC, got the VOB file and renamed it to an MPG file. However the file is 104mb and I can't find any way of compressing it. My question is, how can I compress this MPG file so it is under 10mb? I have downloaded the Logos Decoder for Windows Movie Maker and tried that, but it was unsuccessful. Does anyone know how I can compress it or any programs I can download to do so? Many thanks

Hello niconc-ga, Thank-you for your question. I would recommend downloading and using AutoGK on your PC to convert your DVD to a more manageable size. AutoGK is a very simple to use DVD to AVI conversion suite. It takes care of most of the complicated (to the novice) settings and enables you to convert your DVD in the most simple manner. At its most basic level you simply need to tell AutoGK the size of the file you require, where to find the original DVD and where to save the file once the conversion has completed. You can download AutoGK from the following sources: http://autogk.me.uk (this site is down as I write this) http://www.videohelp.com/tools?s=30#30 I would recommend using either the DivX or XviD codecs to decrease the size of the video file, these are both widely used on Windows platforms. It is difficult to provide a detailed tutorial on how to use AutoGK here due to the restrictions we have on our answers (we can only reply with text and not provide any pictures) and besides there are much better and detailed ones available already! I have detailed some of my favourite guides/tutorials on how to convert your DVD (rather than your renamed MPG file) to an AVI file using AutoGK below: http://www.divx-digest.com/articles/autogk_print.html http://forum.videohelp.com/printview.php?t=301015&start=0 http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/autogk.htm If you require any further assistance please ask for clarification and I will do my best to respond swiftly.
