Hi again.

Up for research is a list of businesses providing X-Ray film storage services.
The high price represents thorough search requirements.
While I seek to find most of the above service providers I don't mind
missing on some of them. A better definition would say I wish to find
a lot of these service providers. Enough to get me started making
phone calls :-)
Some for instance don't advertise on the internet, some are in strange
languages that cannot be read, Chinese for instance.
I would like to find most (like 85%) of the rest of them who do
advertise on the net.
Another definition for an archive would be a place that stores X-Ray
films for long periods of time, for other businesses such as hospitals
or health care centers.

If I like your answer I will reward you with up to 50$ in tip.
Good luck searching,
Lee

Hello leefr-ga,

I?ve done some preliminary research on this question and I?ve also
reviewed your other two prior questions. These lead me to believe that
you?re planning to start or already have a business recovering silver
from x-ray film and you seem to have identified hospitals as possible
sources of such recyclable film. This question takes it beyond
hospitals to other x-ray film storage facilities.

My preliminary research shows that there is a well-established
industry in silver recovery from x-ray film processing as well as
x-ray film disposal. In the US, this industry seems to be
regulation-driven with increasing mandates for keeping silver wastes
from entering dumps and other waste disposal streams. My research also
shows that there is a tremendous amount of film being produced yearly
and there are staggering volumes of film in archival storage. You
could also include not just x-ray films but also photographic and
microfilm/microfiche from records management. In the past few years
there has been a movement away from film to digital imaging which
should eventually reduce the amount of film waste to be disposed of.

Based on the information you?ve revealed in all your questions, I
wonder if trying to answer this question is the best way to help you.
It might be better if you provided additional information about what
you?re trying to accomplish so that we can help you better define the
parameters for your research.

Where are you located? What are the goals of your business? What
research have you done about this industry? The more you can tell us
about the context of your question, the greater the likelihood that we
can get you the information you need.

I look forward to your clarification.

Czh,

Good conclusions on your behalf.
You are correct; I am hoping to enter what is already an established
and even disappearing market. Within 10 years there will be little or
no work in this field.
However I have some advantage over other recyclers and so can offer
competitive prices on scrap materials.
As for the microfilm/microfiche field, I was not aware that there are
large enough quantities of this material to recycle. While it has very
high concentration of silver gr per sq meter I was sure there aren't
many sq meters around... please correct me if I'm wrong.
I am located in Israel, The plant will be opened either here or in Western Europe.
I wish to achieve over 300 Kilo of recycled silver per month by the
3rd month and over 1 ton by the end of year 1.
And so, you can understand I look forward to contacting as many
possible suppliers of the scrap material as I can find.
This question is for those who store the film. If as a bonus you
supply me with some microfilm holders it will be nice.
I hope this clarifies my question. Feel free to further inquire.

Czh,

As for the photographic film. It simply does not contain enough silver
after processing to be interesting. There is usually less then 1 gram
per kilo in this scrap material, plus it contains too much dye, making
its recovery slightly different.

Hello again leefr-ga,

Thank you for your clarification. I now have a pretty good
understanding of the business you?re in. Unfortunately, even after a
couple of hours of research I have not been able to identify good
sources for recyclable x-ray film. It seems that hospitals in the US
make arrangements with records management and destruction companies
for off-site long-term storage required for patient records. I have
not been able to locate good sources for how the film that is ready to
be disposed of is collected and funneled into the recycling stream.
I?ve also found some international trade sites for scrap x-ray film,
but again, not enough to approach giving you an answer.

I hope that someone else can figure out how to identify the scrap
x-ray film sources that you need.

All the best.

Dear Czh,

Thank you for your honesty.
However I was not asking for a reliable source for scrap X-Ray film.
For this is quite some work of phone calls and negotiation...
I am asking for a list of X-Ray Archives in the world.
Look at these two for example:
http://www.insiteone.com/about.htm
http://www.ncdcorp.com/?content=home

They are a result of a simple search:
          x-ray "storage service"

This is what I am looking for, A list of the above service givers.
I need Name, Location, Web Add and Phone Num.
Im handing you this question on a silver plate, can you help me ??

How many storage services would make up an acceptable answer?

Clarification of Question by leefr-ga on 13 Jun 2006 13:48 PDT
Dear Bobbie7,

Being this a 150$ question I would like to receive most of these
services around the world. Please take a look in the beginning of the
question.
I would presume a few thousands or a few hundreds at least.
Good luck
