My questions is around the Personal Finance Software industry - namely
the likes of Microsoft Money and Quicken (its personal finance range
not small business) in Australia).
My question is as follows:
- what are the main features and benefits of Personal Finance
software? What are some emerging features for the future?
- how large is the user base of Personal Finance Software market in
Australia (in users and dollars)?
- how many trial downloads have been downloaded of this software in Australi?
- what percentage does Microsoft Money/Quicken occupy in Australia?
- what are the goals/visions of organisations (priority on Microsoft
and Quicken) with regards to this type of software? Where customer
need are they fulfilling?
- customer demographics of users of this type of software (eg. age,
sex, income, education, PC literacy)
- growth trends of this industry over the past few years?
An example of some of the information type and format that would be
great is found here:
http://www.microsoft.com/Presspass/press/2000/jan00/successpr.map
They mention the following:
- The product line's year-to-date unit share at retail grew from 6.1
percent in 1995 to 21.4 percent in 1999 (Source: PC Data, October
1999).
- More than 1 million copies of the Money trial edition have been
distributed since 1995.
- The number of financial institutions supporting Money to connect to
their customers has grown more than 4,000 percent - from 21 in 1995 to
875 in 1999.
- An estimated 4.4 million people are now using Money to manage their
finances (Source: Media Metrix, September 1999).
Information addressing the example points above would be fantastic!!
