I'm 28 yrs old,Ht:5'ft 3 inches and wt:54 kgs.My periods started at
age 16 and were irregular since then.My mother and her sisters also
have irregular periods. But no history of Infertility.
I get my periods only when I take medication.Diagnosed PCOS and was on
glucophage for 3 months.Married for 2&1/2 yrs.I took letrozol last
year and conceived, which turned out to be bio-chemical
pregnancy.Undergone laproscopic surgery for ovarian drilling but no
periods for next 6 months.Consulted Reproductive endocrinologist and
was put on Clomid 100mg for 5 days + Metformin 2000mg.
Pregnancy test was positive(1st cycle) with light bleeding and abdomen
pain.Ultra sound suspected ectopic pegnancy in the right
tube.Immediate Laproscopy could not save the right tube.Though it did
not burst on it's own.

1.I want to know what are my future chances of conception using my
left tube and ovaries alone.Pls clarify for irregular periods case.

2.Is it true that right tube & ovary are more active than left side.

3.Will these 2 surgeries increase my risk of future tubal pregnancy.

4.Should I consider IVF as my only hope.

I doubt that these issues can be well addressed in the five or ten
minutes that most Researchers will devote to a $2 question.

IVF sounds good, avoid a 3rd surgery!

I wouldn't say that IVF is your only hope in any case-- you could
adopt and provide a needed home for a child that's already born,
without putting your body through anything.

My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant for over 2yr. My 1st
and recent conception is ectopic. Prior I had an HSG that showed both
tubes clear. I had no pain but begin bleeding abnormally which is how
I found out I was pregnant. I opted for a Methatrexate injection but
now 3wks later my ectopic has not decreased. Pain started the last
couple of days and I will have laproscopy this week. My doctor said
that ectopics usually occur in the same tube if the tube and ovary are
functioning. I asked the same question about my left. He assured me
that it only takes one egg and that side was fine. If my right is
damaged he said that clomid would still be appropriate and would
increase my chances of getting pregnant from the left ovary. Don't
give up but I know the frustration and disappointment. IVF is an
option but expensive. Weigh the pro and cons and make sure you
consider your emotional wellbeing. Good luck.
