Howdy All

Years ago (If my memory serves me correctly) the BBC's motto was
"Nation Shall Speak Peace unto Nation"

Is this still their Motto ?

If not why did they abandon it?

And do they have a new Motto?

Yours Truly

Hi dprk007,

After researching this, I have found no indication or reference that
the motto has changed.

"...The BBC?s role as the cement which held the Empire and then the
Commonwealth together is explicit in the BBC motto - Nation Shall
Speak Peace Unto Nation."

Please let me know if the information provided suffices as an answer
to your question.

Best regards,
Rainbow

HiYa Rainbow

Please go and post as answer. I am though a little bit surprised that
the BBC do not attempt to make more of their currently very appropiate
Motto.
Given that they have to contend with a highly Milataristic government,
I would have hoped they would take every opportunity to quote their
Motto.

They really should include it in the Home Page of their web Site.

I keep wandering if they are a little bit ashamed to do this.

Kind Regards

I agree with Rainbow. In an interview distributed by AFP in June 2006,
BBC director-general Mark Thompson said,
"We were set up in the 1920s as a set of domestic radio services but
also there was this idea right from the start - our motto is 'Nation
shall speak peace unto nation' - that we would have global potential.?
