She seemed as perky as usual yesterday but had a very troubled night. I came down three times during the night to comfort her. She had passed away sometime before 5.30 a.m. I had already booked a routine visit to the vet for 9.00 a.m. The vet reckons that she might have suffered a series of strokes. She was born 8 May 1990; and died 2 October 2006 - a good age for a dog. How about a few lines of verse? |

Bryan, This year, three of my pets have died, so think I have a personal understanding of your feelings at this sad time. It is unfortunate that so many of the creatures to which we become attached have life-spans that are shorter than our own. Sometimes I wish I could bond with a giant tortoise to ensure that my pet would outlive me. But they just aren't very cuddly, and if you take them out for walkies, it takes all day to travel a few meters. ;-) I'll share with you the poems I wrote for my cats Shadow, Elvis, and Tuvix, who died earlier this year, and I've written something for Daisy. SEANCE ON A WET EVENING (for Shadow and Elvis) Shadow and Elvis prowl, their gleaming eyes Seeking the catfaced moon as if it were their prize. Creeping, pouncing, crackling with cunning, They are humbled now by death, Their lithe long bodies running, running, Running out of breath. Gone yet not gone, so many tamewild creatures; every night Into my restless dreams they come, whole and hale, And as much mine as they ever were. With secondsight I see my playful cats: an ambling tail Flicking from side to side, stiff whiskers framing A twitchturned nose, faces lit by flaming Round eyes like golden buttons on a soft velvet shirt. Love will not lie forever laden with stone and dirt. Pets frolic sadly across my wet, green lawn, And here on the porch I know My sweet old kitties hear me whisper, low, And I sense their familiar footfall on the roam Many backyards away, but always heading home. TUVIX IN THE SKY WITH DIAMONDS My simpleminded friend is gone. So sweet, a smile wrapped in dark chocolate, Blue ice eyes with floating flames inside. The light fled from his gaze And somewhere, in a far corner of the galaxy, Two blue stars flared into existence And, for a nanosecond, the Music of the Spheres Sounded just like a purr. GRIEVING MISS DAISY Daisy, Daisy, Daydream Beliver too, Bryan pays me To make up this 'po' for you. I feel like I knew you, honey; My eyes are moist and runny. I shed a tear For a terrier dear: Daisy, a fond adieu. Daisy, Daisy, Now that your days are through, GA's hazy: Everyone's missing you. You never were cross or whiny, Your little face was droll. Your body was rather tiny, Like a TARDIS for your soul. ~Love from Pink |

My thanks to everyone for your kind thoughts. The place now seems empty without her. Of course, I will always have memories: like when she used to bark at the doggy that was staring at her from the mirror; and her attempts then to get round to the back of the mirror. That what when she was very young. She wised up later. All the Best Bryan |

Bryan..... This may be of some comfort: RAINBOW BRIDGE " Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body begins quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together...." Author unknown... Daisy will forever be remembered here at Google Answers. Steph53 |

Very many thanks for the further messages and piccies. It seemed very odd this morning without the walk (it's not the same by yourself); without serving her breakfast; without seeing her watching me have mine; without having to watch every step I took, in case I stepped on her; without having to lift her on to her favourite chair; without having to lift her down again, and again, and again. She kept me very busy! Bryan |

Bryan, Daisy had a good doggy life with her devoted master. How fortunate she was. She also had a legion of fond admirers who followed her colorful career and her romantic ups and downs, and who remember her taste for champagne. I'm truly sad to know that she is gone, and I offer you my sincere condolences. Tryx P.S. Pink, your poems are beautiful. |
