I've included some grants that are only for woman and some that have
broad requirements such as a "feminist" viewpoint. I found all the
general, national ones I could but I added in some that are regional,
trying to give the best mix of regions I could. (It's great to be an
artist in New York City, Minnesota, or California, as far as grants
go.)
I've included links to some residencies at the end of my answer-- I
wasn't sure if you were interested in a residency, but it's basically
where an organization sponsors you, gives you space and you can go to
another city or country to work on your art. It is a good opportunity
if you're adventurous and there were quite a few that I found. It is
a form of grant if you need a place and time alone to focus on your
art.

The SAC Artist Awards recognizes emerging and mid-career artists
living in New England. The intent and criteria of the SAC Artist
Awards is to encourage and support New England artists who show a
mastery of their craft media and create original and innovative work.
Since its inception in 1994, this has been one of the only New England
sources for grants given directly to craft artists. In addition to the
cash awards, SAC provides an exhibition of the artists' work.
The Medal for Excellence in Craft Award was established in 1913 to
honor recognized master craft artists and others who have made
significant contributions to the American decorative arts field. Since
then, more than 60 artists have received this honor. Honorees receive
a medal in conjunction with a major exhibition of their work, artist
lecture and exhibition publication. After a 40 year hiatus, the Award
was re-instituted in 1990, when ceramist Karen Karnes was selected.
Recent honorees include: Sam Maloof, furniture maker, CA, 1991; John
Prip, metalsmith, MA, 1995; and Jonathan Fairbanks, distinguished
service, MA, 1997; Lino Tagliapietra, glass artist, Italy, 2001.

PROGRAM : Grants of at least $250 to aid visual artists of color with
urgent financial needs such as housing, medical costs, fire, and flood
damage. Applicants must live in the greater NYC area (including
certain counties in CT & NJ), and must be actively working artists of
at least 21 years of age. For more information on eligibility
