Hello judymc-ga,

Please note that I cannot speak on behalf of Google Answers. I myself
am a Researcher for Google Answers, and as a Researcher, I have done
research to provide an answer to your question. But this is not an
official answer from Google Answers itself.

The Google Answers FAQ states that Google Answers Researchers are
tested to ensure that "they are expert searchers with excellent
communication skills. Some of them also have expertise in various
fields."

"Google Answers: Frequently Asked Questions - Are Researchers experts
in their field?"
Google Answers

The Researcher Guidelines, available on the Web, further explain:

"Anyone who is an expert at locating information on the web and has
excellent written communication skills can become a Researcher. You
do not need expert knowledge about a specific topic to become a
Researcher ...."

"Google Answers: Researcher Guidelines and FAQ - Who should become a
Researcher with Google Answers?"

While these Researcher Guidelines also describe the application
process, the main FAQ notes:

"Because of an overwhelming response by qualified candidates, we are
temporarily not accepting additional applications. Please check back
with us again, as we likely will begin accepting applications again in
the near future."

"Google Answers: Frequently Asked Questions - How do I sign up to
become a Researcher?"

I hope that this information is helpful.
