Hi there

I don't think the 2003-4 figures are available yet. Would you be
interested in official statistics for these:

Actual numbers for 2000, 2001 and 2002
--------------------------------------
Number of pupils in:
pre-school
primary schools
secondary schools
special schools
independent schools

Projections published in 26 August 2003 for pupil totals up to 2013
-------------------------------------------------------------------

Table 1 Number of pupils by school sector (This includes independent
schools)
Table 2 Number of pupils by age receiving publicly funded education
Table 3 Number of pupils by stage in publicly funded primary and
secondary schools

Schools Census September 2002
-----------------------------

A range of statistics, mostly about publicly funded schools

Please let me know if these statistics would be a satisfactory answer
for you.

Thanks - Leli

Thanks for getting back to me.

The figures you want are in a table on the Scottish Executive website
called:

"Pupil Projections for Scotland
Number of pupils (thousands) at September by school sector"

2002 - actual figures
=====================

Publicly funded schools

pre-school 57,700
primary 413,700
secondary 316,900
special ed 8,000
total 796,300

Independent schools

total 29,000

2003 - projections
===================

Publicly funded schools

pre-school 57,600
primary 404,700
secondary 320,200
special ed 7,700
total 789,400

Independent schools

total 28,200

There are figures for each year from 2000-2013 in the table, plus
other information in the same document:

Thank you for your quick and accurate info. I also asked the same
question on the same day about pupils in British Clumbia schools. Have
you found this info?

Thank you again. RC Mitchell

Thanks for your message - I'm glad the Scottish info was useful.

A different researcher, justaskscott, was working on your British
Columbia question. If you want the figures he uncovered, I'm afraid
you'll need to post a message on that question too!

Hope this doesn't all seem too complicated if you are a first-time
customer and still finding your way round the Google Answers set-up.

Thanks - Leli
