I am looking for a Far Side by Gary Larson. The one I am interested
in has a teacher standing in front of a gigantic blackboard filled
with rules and the caption reads soemthing like- "Mrs. XXX goes over
her classroom rules" I am interested in information on how I can get
a copy of this strip- ie which book it was published in, etc.
Thanks for your help!

Hello Azlardinois

I saw your other question regarding why this question had not been
answered and it spurred me back into action.

The comic strip will be available in this book:

The Complete Far Side: 1980-1994
by Gary Larson
ISBN: 0740721135
Price: $135 (but you can get it cheaper and also note there is a
deluxe version of the book also for a premium price)

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0740721135/wwwpalitoycom0a
http://dogbert.abebooks.com/servlet/SearchResults?bx=off&sts=t&ds=30&bi=0&isbn=0740721135&sortby=2
http://www.alibris.com/search/search.cfm?chunk=25&mtype=&qauth=Larson%20Gary&qtit=Complete%20Far%20Side&S=R&matches=9&qsort=r

The blurb to this book states:
"The Complete Far Side contains every Far Side cartoon ever syndicated
- more than 4,000 comic gems, with more than 1,100 that have never
previously appeared in book form!"

So if your cartoon is to be found it will appear in here but
unfortunately I was unable to track the cartoon down in any of the
cheaper books that I have.

Gary Larson has quite rightly closely guarded his copyright on these
fantastic cartoons and I do not believe there is a site that legally
hosts all of his cartoons for free which has made it very difficult
for researchers to complete your task quickly.

If you have any further questions regarding this subject please ask
for clarification and I will do my best to help.

This is not what I am looking for. I was aware of the book- but I
don't want to spend over $100 to find this cartoon.

I am looking for the book it was originally published in or a link to
the cartoon itself.

I have already checked the local regional and state library for the
collection. That was not successful- so I am going this route to try
to find what book it was originally published in.

Thanks for trying to help- please reopen this questions.

Hello azlardinois

Your original question was to locate the cartoon that you mentioned
and to provide "which book it was published in". Can you please let
me know how else I can help? The cartoon you are looking for is in
this book as this is the complete works of The Far Side and everything
that was ever published is in this volume.

I forgot to add that your clarification states that you require a link
to the cartoon on the internet, as my original answer stated there are
no legal copies of Gary Larson's work on the internet as he closely
guards his copyright (quite rightly so too!).

Please also refer to your question regarding why no-one was answering
your question - it seems that the cartoon you are after is little
published as it does not appear in at least 10 books that I (and other
researchers) know of.

I would prefer to help you on this subject but I do not know what I
can offer as I have already provided you with the book that the
cartoon is guaranteed to be in (which is what the original question
was) and there are no guarantees it will actually be published in
another book.

You could try and find The Complete Far Side at a local
library, and make a photocopy there. Go to this <a

directory page, and put in your zipcode to see if the book is at a
library near you.
