What (if any) are the laws governing swingers clubs and bath houses in
New York and California? Are there clubs and organizations that are
paid a fee to introduce individuals who want to partcipate in
Swinging. Are there Bath Houses that charge a "membership" or "door
fee" for entry? Are they any laws governing the operation of bath
houses?

Examples and contact infromation are always appreciated.

AND if you stumble upon any states where this is legal, I'd love that
information, too. Otherwise please focus your research on NY and CA.

This is an interesting excerpt:

Civil Libertines - The battle over Phoenix's groundbreaking sex-club
ban moves into federal court - BY DAVID HOLTHOUSE
http://www.phoenixnewtimes.com/issues/1999-03-18/feature2.html

..."

On December 9, the Phoenix City Council made sex-law history when it
unanimously passed a new ordinance that makes it a crime to own or
operate a swingers' club in Phoenix. The Scottsdale-based National
Family Legal Foundation, a conservative Christian organization, helped
Phoenix city attorneys draft the law.

The ordinance is the first of its kind in this country, and appears
primed to spark a monumental battle in the legal war over the business
of sex in America.

Until Phoenix, no U.S. city had passed a law specifically banning
swingers' clubs, which have quietly existed in most major metropolitan
areas since the early to mid-1970s.

Now, officials in at least four other cities, including Las Vegas,
Nevada, and Indianapolis, Indiana, have drafted their own swingers'
club laws, using the Phoenix ordinance as a model. Before they make
their next move, those officials are waiting to see how the Phoenix
law stands up to the first waves of a constitutional attack in federal
court.

Locally, the city of Glendale was more keen. In January, its city
council, without any public hearings or debate, unanimously passed an
exact replica of the Phoenix law, even though there are no known
swingers' clubs in Glendale. "The simplest way to get rid of them was
not to allow them in the first place," says Glendale city council
member Phil Lieberman. "I'm pro-business, but I'm not pro-dirty
business."

Since the Phoenix ordinance took effect January 8, five of the six
swingers' clubs have remained open in violation of the law. The owners
of four of them have filed a federal lawsuit against the city,
alleging the ordinance violates the U.S. Constitution.

FYI my Google Research Friends: I am writing a dissertation on
sexuality and human psychology and I am seeking facts, statistics and
figures -- charges, arrests, fines, sentences , etc. Laws, or lack
of laws.

For instance, on Zooskool.com it says people can marry their pets,
which clearly gets around the "cruelty to animals" -- as the pet is
now your spouse.

Other examples of things I'd be intersted in information are:

1) Something called "Furries" people who have sex with others dressed
as stuffed animals.

2) People whio have sex with dolphins.

The bottomline is, I am interested in any information that would
further my research, specifically facts and statistics, laws (or lack
thereof), arrests, fines and sentences.

April,

Very Cool Web Site you have...!! There is only one opportunity to
give tips to researchers, while rating their Answer. I did receive
your tip on this Question:

Look below at your comments, to me..

Did you mean *another* tip? If so, I'd have to select and _Answer_
another Question that you have posted, --and as you were rating, you'd
have another opportunity to tip..

As far as this Question is concerned, I'd call Chris and/or Mike at
the Red Rooster in Las Vegas. The City of Las Vegas has tried to shut
them down countless times. They undoubtedly have an interesting story
to tell, if you can get them to open up.
