Please tell me if it's possible to get my Master's in Teaching English
As A Second Language. I have two Associate's degrees one in general
studies and one in Legal Secretarial. I also have numerous education,
English, and psychology courses all from different colleges. Since it
would take at least two years to complete my Bachelor's, I'd like to
know if there's a way I can skip going for a Bachelor's in English and
proceed to a Master's. If possible, I would like to do this online.
I have several years experience teaching English as a second language,
but would like to teach abroad and understand that many countries
require at least a four-year university degree. Please provide as
much detail as possible.

Dear Kim Marie,

You don't need a master's degree to teach ESL, and most master's
programmes I know of actually require at least a year (usually two)
experience as a teacher, before you can apply (in addition to college
education). However, squirrelgirl is wrong in sugegsting that there
are master's programmes that would admit you without experience or a
degree. Most ESL teachers begin with other certificates (see another
answer I gave on the question:
University Degree in Education to prepare to teach English as a Foreign Language
<http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=383741> ).

I could explain to you more about teaching English abroad and about
possible programmes you could join (and later perhaps complete your
bachelor online, if you'd be really interested in a master's degree).
Woudl you like that as an answer?

Yes, it is possible. Check out this website for a really detailed description:

I was saying it WAS possible for her to get a Master's degree...I
didn't mean her degrees would automatically give her one. That website
has some helpful links about requirements for teaching ESL abroad and
I thought that would help.
