Question ID: 741448
I am looking for a science-fiction or thriller ghost-writer to write a novel
for me. For the purpose, I need a list of 100 freelance writers with
some accomplishments in the field.

I am interested people that are reachable and still actively working and do
or did the following:
 * write or contribute to episodes for sci-fi TV series, e.g. Star Track,
X-Files, etc.
 * write novels based on computer games, e.g. StarCraft
 * write novels for book franchises, e.g. Tom Clancy's crew
 * write scripts for comic books or novels based on comic books
 * write storyboards for computer or role-playing games, e.g. Homeworld
 * wrote acclaimed fan-fiction

I need the emailsand possibly the web sites and the phone numbers of the
writers, along with a short note on what exactly did they do in order to
make it into the list.

I now see that this question is marked as "being answered". Can you
please clarify how many names are you willing to provide for $200, if
providing 100 names is not feasible?

I would rather do this through Google Answers rather than contracting
people directly. If things work out well, I will put an additional
$200 question requesting for more names. This will bring the total
ammount paid to a pretty good level (if tips are included).

Does that work for whoever is answering this question?

Hi there,

I am currently in the process of doing preliminary research to see
what information is available.

What you suggested in the "Clarification of Question" works for me and
thus I am willing to work on your question, 50 names per question at a
time.

Please confirm this so that I can proceed.

Cheers,
Tox-ga

I only wanted tos wtich the person who originally responded as it
seemed they didn't want to do the job, Please see my e-mail to your
service department I have not received a response from. Can anyone
simply do what is requested? This is my 2nd Google question where the
people who attempted help wanted to offer their advice vs. simply
doing what is asked. Am I doing something wrong? Or is Google
answers setup in some way I am unaware of in my limited understanding
of the world?

Thanks.

Subject: I tried with this person with no luck and posted the same
question as it seemed they did want to do it

do I have to pay the original $100 I reposted at $200. I would have
continued with the first person but straight up they said they would
not accept please read text. I would like to continue with your
service however it seems that the people who work on things would
rather offer their advise than do the work. Please see my previous
postings. If possible please let me know what I am doing wrong as I
am attempting to write these questions in the most straightforward way
and this is now two times I have more or less felt like the people
doing the work basically did not want to do it. The reality is that I
have plenty of counsel at the company I work for and would simply like
a net researcher to what I could do on my own. Just trying to save
time.

Sincerely,

Ken Lowson

Dear Businessken,

First of all, only to relieve you, until your question has been
answered, you're only charged a listing fee of $0.50. The $200 (or the
$100 of the previous question) will be charged only if there will be
an answer in the answer box (and not comments, as listed here by
myself, by czh-ga and by you).

By the way, you didn't have to post a new question with the same
query. On the question page you have the option (on the top right
corner, IINM) to amend details of the question, including updating its
pricing.

Google Answers Researchers are freelancers who choose to answer the
questions they see fit. Therefore, I cannot speak for everybody when I
say why your qustion hasn't been answered yet. I can tell you that I
chose not to try and answer the question, because of the effort
involved: you ask for 100 names and details (of not-easy-find-people),
and offer $200 for that (from which I'll receive $150). That's $1.5
for each name I manage to find, which might take more time than the
number of hours I'd work for $150 (as much as it is).

In addition, I must confess that I would have thought of more
productive ways to find my suitable writer than contacting 100 people
and offer them my project (for example: having them come to me and
show me their credentials).

Businessken,

You may have misunderstood the way Google Answers works. All questions
posted on GA are open to any Researcher, up to the point when someone
chooses to "lock" a question in order to work on it. When Researchers
post free comments or suggestions, this does not prevent other
Researchers from taking the question. The comments posted to your
earlier question were merely attempts to help you formulate the
question in such a way as to maximize the chance that you'd receive an
answer. While it is possible that someone may take this on, compiling
a list of 100 individuals who meet your requirements may be perceived
by many Researchers as a very daunting task.

Why don't people simply ask me for the amount needed to get the job done?

I will pay whatever is fair for the job $500 whatever if someone could
just let me know.

Businessken,

I'm glad to see that you seem to be heading to a solution with tox-ga
handling your question. The problem of the relation between fee and
research effort has taken the right path too, since given that no
offer higher than $200 can be entered in Google Answers' system, the
other possibility was to lower the expected outcome. I hope you find a
suitable result.
