I have recently relocated to the US from the UK & have bought a car as this is cheaper than renting one... I will do my US Driving test but this has been delayed due to wrong information on my I95 entry card which has had to be sent off for correction. I need to get insurance for the car I bought without a US driver's licence using a UK driving licence held for 18 years (this would be short term maybe 2 months maximum) I did some research & found another question on Google regarding this sort of issue http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=589072 the problem I am having is that I am in New York & it seems to be a totally different set of driving rules between NY & Georgia. I called the GMAC insurance agents in the area I live & they all said they couldn't do it. Any answers or names of insurance agents that can do this would be greatly appreciated |

I don't know if it will help, but you might ask your (previous) UK auto insurance company if it has a correspondent relationship with a US insurer so that a possible discount on premiums based on your driving record can be transferred. |
