How many grams of NaHCO3 (baking soda) would yuo need to neutralise
500ml 0f of battery acid (H2SO4) that has been spilled on your garage
floor ?
Assume that the concentration of the battery acid is 12molL-1 
The balance equation is:
H2SO4 + 2NaHCO3-----Na2SO4 + 2CO3 + 2H2O

500 ml = 0.5 l
1 l = 12 mol, so 0.5 l = 6 mol

to neutralise 6 moles H2SO4 we need 12 moles NaHCO3, couse of the 2 in the equation

1 mol NaHCO3 = 22.99 + 1.01 + 12.01 + (16.00*3) = 84.01 gram

you need 12 moles, so 12*84.01 = 1008.12 gram

that would be a kilo
