I need an educational model to meet the needs of students socially
promoted into the ninth grade. The model should address; scheduling
options, cost factors, and curriculum ideas. The students are coming
from a two year jr. high program into a four-year public school
system. We are trying to help them meet graduation requirements while
learning salable skills in the world of work.

Please explain a little further what you mean by "socially promoted"?
Are you saying that they do not meet the academic achievement level
standards to be in 9th grade in your school? Are you asking about
remedial programs? The more background you can give about your
situation, the more likely that I will be able to give you a useful
answer. Thanks very much.

I am working independently with the permission of the school board.
"Socially promoted" represents approximately 40-60 students who fail
two of four core curriculum subjects. These students are sent on to
the high school for various reasons despite their academic failures.
Most of these students come to school but just do not fit into the
traditional school system. I have proposed structuring a half day
block using computer based curriculum then sending the students to
sponsored jobs or community projects. The students must meet the core
curriculum requirements for New Jersey. I have also suggested inviting
the parents to sign a contract to attend bi-weekly luncheons/dinners
with their children to discuss progress. Program limit -20.

Hello peachtree-ga,

Do you still want an answer to this question in light of your other
question about double posting as counselor1-ga. I suggest that you
close whichever question you consider to be a duplicate.
