I would like to access a website in the U.S.(games)but it is only
available to U.S. users. I found sites offering programs for money
that can hide your IP address. One had the ability to NOT use an IP
address from a country one could choose. But I did not find one that
would allow me to specify that the IP address seen by the server MUST
be from the U.S. The website I want to access is www.Gametap.com. I
just want to try it out. Ideally, this would be a solution that would
not require my buying any software. Any ideas?

2 things - Computer Shopper, I think this month, gave away ghostsurf
on the cover page. Costs about £2.99 and is a good mag. This is a
full product and seems to always give an IP address in Tucson or
Phoenix Arizona.

Next - have you tried this -

You can acess it by entering via proxy.

http://tor.eff.org

You might need to configure it a little to only use US-based tor exit
nodes, but if you press refresh enough times the problem should solve
itself.

Hi Joel.

The best way to go about this is to use a proxy. Proxify.com is
unlikely to work, because it strips information that the site likely
needs, and doesn't allow cookies.
There are, however, a whole fleet of anonymous proxies, and many of them are US.
In order to access the site, do the following

If you're using Firefox
1) Download and Install SwitchProxy.
http://www.roundtwo.com/product/switchproxyC
1.1) Click "Install", if Prompted Click "Edit Options"
1.2) Click "Add" (To allow roundtwo.com to install Switchproxy)
 1.3) Click "Install" again
 1.4) Click "OK"
 1.5) Close and Re-Open Firefox
2) Download a Proxy List
2.1) You can get a proxy list from
http://www.multiproxy.org/downloads.htm Either of those will be fine.
Save it to your Desktop
2.2) On the Proxy toolbar, click "Add"
2.3) Choose "Anonymous" and click "Next"
2.4) In the Label Box type "Games"
2.5) Next to "File" Click "Browse"
2.6) Browse for the proxy.txt file you saved on your Desktop
 2.7) Click "Load"
 2.8) Click "OK"
3) Turn on Proxies
3.1) From the Proxy Dropdown box (Next to the Word "Proxy" on your
toolbar), Choose "Games". Click Apply

Now you should be able to surf your Games site in peace. If it still
won't let you in, wait a minute and hit refresh a few times until
SwitchProxy finds a proxy that's within the USA. When you want to surf
normally again, Choose "None" from the Proxy Dropdown Box, and click
apply

Hope that helps you out

Acces via a freewebbased proxy like http://tntproxy.com will work, but
not if a system administrator blocked the url. In that case lookup the
IP adress of the site and enter that in your browser adress field ;-)
